Welcome, ladies!
One of the biggest hurdles I've found with building communities is that it's challenging to find that perfect balance of access and value.
- Too complicated to access? You don't visit often enough to get what you paid for. Learning from your peers is often more valuable than learning exclusively from me since you gain access to all of their lived experiences too!
- Too accessible/not exclusive enough? The community becomes too big for people to have real conversations, which it turns into a lurker situation (or worse - people disengage completely).
I am also not a fan of those huge 20k+ member "mega groups" that exist online.
I have tried many of them, but never found the "sisterhood" I've been craving.
They are either:
- way too restrictive (i.e. your post has to be "approved" first by an admin. If you don't trust the person to be in your group, why did you even let them in? We are all adults, right?)
- chronically upsell their products nonstop (then ban people from trying to share their own, too!)
- or full of AI bots or something, since all the posts seem to be super spammy and unmanaged by any admin at all.
Before I closed up my consulting business 10 years ago to move to Houston after my divorce, I ran my business primarily through groups.
Did it make me millions? No.
But it allowed me to help the kinds of clients that I wanted to work with: those passionate about who they serve, eager to learn ways to help more people, but short on funds in this particular season of their business.
IMO, just because you're starting out - or not a pro at certain things, like marketing, or how to optimize your processes - doesn't mean you don't deserve a quick boost and some hope to know that you aren't alone in your struggle.
This "quality > quantity" way of doing business blessed me with clients who were incredibly loyal, who invested in mentorship for years and years, and who generously and continously recommended my blogs, products, and services far and wide.
My goal is not to one day make some private platform that rakes in gazillions of dollars in passive income.
My goal is to create a community where all of us women can SPEAK without judgement, so I can listen to what is being said (and UNsaid), and then try to find, connect, or create solutions to those problems.
This benefits you because you get someone eager to help you move forward so you aren't losing that precious momentum.
But it also benefits me because when I take the time to help you:
- It reinforces that I know what I'm doing and helps combat the "imposter complex" that haunts even the best of us some days
- It expands my knowledge base to optimize my own business - and by extension, help others optimize theirs
This is the infinite, pay-it-forward power of a beautiful community that I want to create. 🩷
If this is something you've also been yearning for (especially if social media feels like everyone's a stranger, despite technology "connecting" us even more these days) I'd love to have you sit with us!
